Welcome New Coaches!

Becca Hicks, 14U Asst Coach

Hello everyone! My name is Becca Hicks! I’m an alumni of the Waves organization and I’m so excited to be back with the Waves as a Coach! I met Coach McGuire in 2012 when I joined the 16u team. I had always known I wanted to play in college, and that’s where I decided to join the 18u showcase team. I played softball throughout high school at formerly known as Lee-Davis High School, and collegiate ball as an outfielder at Patrick Henry Community College where I was awarded 2nd Team All-Region ‘14 and ‘15 as well as NJCAA Region X Champions in 2014. I then transferred to Roanoke College and played on the softball team for 1 year, making the transition to focus on my studies, majoring in Health and Exercise Science. I currently am a head coach and personal trainer at a gym in Ashland. I am a powerlifter and a sport-specific specialist! What I am excited about being a coach for the Waves is giving back to the organization that had once helped me in my journey and the sport I love!

Sami Davidson, 16U Asst Coach

Sami is originally from Stafford County and has been playing since she was four years old. She played travel baseball until high school and switched over to softball full-time during her sophomore year. Sami was a catcher at Randolph-Macon College and took an extra Covid year (or two). She and her team had Regional appearances four times and were two-time Regional Champions and had a World Series appearance. Sami graduated from college in 2022 where she studied History and Art History and is currently a Museum Educator at Virginia Museum of History and Culture. Sami takes great pride in her softball prowess and is very dedicated to giving back to a sport that has given so much to her. This is exactly where she needs to be so that our players can absorb all of the knowledge that she has to give. Sami's main expertise is mostly catching of course but she also brings hitting development to the table
